Demand was uneven: while Hamburg and Munich saw lively activity in line with supply, expectations were not met in Frankfurt and Berlin due to weak demand. Seedless South African lots dominated, followed by Peruvian and Namibian arrivals. Towards the weekend, the first Argentinean arrivals of Abate Fetel were spotted in Berlin. The decreasing volumes of Italian products did not necessarily reduce demand - on the contrary, buyers again had to dig deeper into their pockets for Abate Fetel. The presence of South African batches grew steadily. Larger numbers arrived in Frankfurt due to increasing export problems to Eastern Europe. There were first signs of selective outflow of German goods. The range was still broad, with domestic varieties dominating: Elstar, Jonagold, Boskooop and Breaburn formed the basis. Clementines were hardly visible: only in Munich and Frankfurt were there still a few products from Spain and Italy. Moroccan Nadorcott and Turkish Murcott completed the range.

Late varieties, such as Tang Gold and Nadorcott, as well as smaller quantities of Orri were supplied by Spanish producers, and Orris only from Israel.īoth Israeli and Spanish Orri continued to impress in terms of their organoleptic characteristics. Mandarins were dominated by shipments from Spain and Israel. This mixed situation required well-dosed feeds to defend the continued high demands. In addition, the rather sunny and warmer weather did not contribute to the purchase of tangerines. The tangerine and clementine season is slowly coming to an end: both the interest and the supplies were limited, according to BLE.
